Pele, football legend has been admitted to a hospital in Paris

Brazilian football legend Pele has been admitted to a paris hospital because of a urinary tract infection, his spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Pele at 78-years-old, is widely considered one of the all time greatest footballers. Pepito Fornos said, “in the hospital taking antibiotics. Doctors thought he would be discharged within two days,”

Pele, is still the only player in history to have won three World Cups, was in the French capital attending an event with PSG star Kylian Mbappe.

In recent years, Pele has had some issues with his health. In 2015, because of an enlarged prostate, he was taken to a Brazilian hospital. The legend was also hospitalised about a year earlier for kidney dialysis, which took several days.

Pele is one of the best known names in football, he is very well known as “The Black Pearl” and also as “The King”.

Pele burst into the limelight as a teenager by helping to lead his native Brazil to the World Cup Championship in 1958. In 1962 and 1970, he went on to star on two other World Cup tittle teams, in addition to having a breakthrough career with the Brazilian club Santos and later with the New York Cosmos of the now-defunct North American Soccer League.

In 2000, FIFA, the international soccer governing body, named he and Diego Maradona co-Players of the Century.

Even after retiring from football, Pele has remained in the public eye as an ambassador for the sport of football, a product pitchman, and also as an advocate for the poor people in Brazil – having grown up among them in Tres Coracoes.
